Low Temperature Hydrothermal Synthesis from Dolomite or Calcite, Quartz and Kaolinite
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dolomite or calcite, quartz and kaolinite in various proportions were reacted at 250-300~ temperatures and pressures up to 90 bars in a hydrous environment. Reactions which approached completion produced talc, calcite, montmorillonite, anorthite (both metastable hexagonal and stable triclinic polymorphs) and the rare Ca-zeolite, garronite. These reactions are applicable to diagenesis, low-grade metamorphism and hydrothermal alteration.

Hydrothermal Reactivity of Mixed-layer Kaolinite/smectite: Experimental Transformation of High-charge to Low-charge Smectite
-A mixed-layer kaolinite/smectite (K/S) containing trace amounts of quartz, discrete kaolinite, goethite-hematite, and calcite was hydrothermally reacted with deionized water at 150", 200", and 250"C for 1 to 12 months. The starting K/S contained 50% smectite consisting of 15~ low-charge and 350 high-charge layers. The X-ray powder diffraction and chemical analyses of the reacted products indic...

This paper reports the mineralogical and geochemical compositions of the Late Permian C2, C5a, C5b, C6a, and C6b semianthracite coals from the Mahe mine, northeastern Yunnan, China. Minerals in the coals are mainly made up of quartz, chamosite, kaolinite, mixed-layer illite/smectite (I/S), pyrite, and calcite; followed by anatase, dolomite, siderite, illite and marcasite. Similar to the Late Pe...
متن کاملGeology and Geochemistry of the Golden Butte Mine- A Small Carlin-Type Gold Deposit in Eastern Nevada
The Golden Butte sediment-hosted disseminated (Carlin-type) gold deposit is located on the western flank of the Cherry Creek Range in east central Nevada. The ore body contains nearly 3 million tons of gold ore with an average grade of 0.031 ounces per ton. The main host of the gold ore is the Mississippian Chainman Shale, a carbonaceous, silty claystone to siltstone. A low-angle (normal?) faul...

The clay and non-clay minerals have been identified by XRD analysis. The non-clay minerals include quartz, crystobalite, orthoclase, microcline, plagioclase, calcite, siderite and dolomite, and the clay minerals include kaolinite (52.39%), illite (36.39%) and illite-smectite mixed layer minerals (11.21%). Kaolinite is the most dominant component in the clay mineral assemblages. The clay mineral...
متن کاملThe Geology and Isotope Geochemistry of the Talc Deposits of Puebla de Lillo (Cantabrian Zone, Northern Spain)
The talc deposits of Puebla de Lillo (Cantabrian zone, Variscan belt of Iberia) are hosted by hydrothermal dolostones replacing Carboniferous limestones and are generally located adjacent to Ordovician quartzites. The talc orebodies occur as metasomatic replacement zones of the dolostones near faults or lithologic contacts and, to a lesser extent, as replacements of the nearby quartzites or sla...
